Many cultures around the world hold snakes and serpents in high regard, for good and bad.
I choose to hold the more positive, nurturing aspects of the serpents mythology to light.
Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. As snakes shed their skin, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing. The ouroboros is a symbol of eternity and continual renewal of life.
Serpents are often represented as potent guardians of temples and other sacred spaces. This connection may be grounded in the observation that when threatened, some snakes hold and defend their ground, rather than retreat. Therefore they are natural guardians of treasures or sacred sites which cannot easily be moved out of harm's way. Perhaps your Little Sister will aid you on your journey, reminding you that you are yourself a sacred creation.
